Kalena — built, owned and operated by Navicaters Limited.
Navicaters Limited is a New Zealand company building software for Pacific travel and tourism. Our signature platform is Kalena (kalena.fun) — a full travel commerce system covering discovery, booking, payments, operator storefronts and AI trip planning. Navicaters Limited owns and operates Kalena outright: we designed it, we built it, we run it.
How Navicaters began.
Navicaters did not start as a hobby project. It was a deliberate move by two experienced professionals who decided to stop building for other organisations and build something of their own.

Founding questionThat question sharpened the strategy. The Pacific did not need more outsiders parachuting in with context-blind solutions. It needed more of its own people building, advising, and competing at a serious level.

A gap became visible
After years inside New Zealand's cyber and infrastructure environments, Norman could see the gap between what the Pacific needed and what it was usually offered.
The company became real
Norman invited Leuaina to build the company together. The idea moved from conversation to execution.
Navicaters Limited is registered
The company was formally incorporated in Auckland and began building its first real delivery base.
Products launched. Clients engaged.
Hospitality systems, travel technology, automation work, and business continuity tooling started moving from concept into live delivery.

Not because that sounds good in a brochure, but because contextual understanding changes outcomes. It affects adoption, trust, pace, and whether a project survives first contact with reality.
